I SHALL STAND SILENT NO MORE By Larry Porter
I shall stand silent no more.
The enemy is not the government. The enemy is the person who would use the government to hold a gun to my head and rob me of my money, property and rights. That person is a coward. The man who puts a gun in my belly and robs me in a dark alley is, at least, courageous. They both take from me the fruits of my hard work. But, though wrong in his actions, the thief in the alley is a step ahead of the coward who would have others do his robbing.
I shall stand silent no more. I am ashamed that I have stayed silent for so long while others have used the government in such a manner. I know not what to reply to my grandchildren when they ask, grandpa, why did you let them steal our country from us. I will be ashamed no longer.
I shall stand silent no more. I am not advocating violence. I am a non-violent person. But I am not afraid of jail, nor am I afraid to die. From hence forth, I will civilly disobey every unjust law and every unreasonable ordinance that is thrust at me so that someone else may live a more comfortable, more prosperous life at my expense.
I will stand tall on the shoulders of the principles and values my forefathers died to give to me. I will not compromise nor will I negotiate my principles or values. They are non-negotiable. The very thought of compromise flies in the face of reason. How can one negotiate one’s principles? The very definition defies such action. They then become something else, but most certainly do not remain principles. How could one change one’s personality and remain the same person?
I shall stand tall on the shoulders of those principles and values and shout so the whole world hears, I SHALL STAND SILENT NO MORE.
